2017 83rd Illinois 101 Counties Open Tournament
October 7^th and 8^th, 2017
(Usually scheduled 1^st weekend in October)

The 83rd Annual Illinois 101 Counties Checker Tournament will be held Saturday, October 7th and Sunday, October 8th, 2017, in Marion, IL at the Illinois Centre Mall food court, (map) sponsored by the Illinois State Checker Association.

The Illinois Centre Mall is located west of the intersection of Interstate I-57 and IL State Highway 13 (Exit 54B). Travel west on IL 13 about a 1½ miles to enter the mall. The mall is located at the third stop light west of the interstate exit.  The food court entrance is on the north side near Target.

A recommended hotel is the Super 8 Model at 2601 De Young, Marion, IL 62959 (map), phone 618-993-5577.  The Super 8 is located off the first light west of the Interstate. 

Registration on Saturday begins at 8:00 a.m. with play beginning shortly after 9:00 a.m.  There will be four rounds played on Saturday and 3 rounds on Sunday; 3-move restriction with pair by a modified Swiss system. Entry fee is $10.00.

Un-Official Results:  We had 10 Player with six in A Class and 4 in B. We played round robin for the first 5 rounds, then Don West played Lapin and last round I played Lapin.  1st place Lapin, West, Gene Ellison, Byron Woolum & Gary Ellison tied, then John Grisley was next. Class B was won by Earl Kennel with George Stallsworth or Roger Doll next, then Sue DeVoy. Roger will report score-sheet with honor points in a few day. Official 2017 Illinois 101 Counties Tournament Results:

On October 6th, 2017, the 83rd Annual Illinois 101 Counties Tournament was held in Marion, IL by the Illinois State Checker Association (ISCA).
Ten players attended from three US states and from Ukraine. The tournament champion is Lapin Vadym. The top A class Illinois player is Gene Ellison.
The B Class winner and top Illinois player is Earl Kennel. The A Class played five round-robin pairing plus two Swiss paired rounds.
The B Class played two 3 round-robins for six rounds. A good time was had by everyone. The ISCA wants to be specially thanks to Joe McDaniel for his
generous donation to the prize fund. Please mark your calendar on April 7 & 8, 2018 for the Illinois State Tournament.
